Terms of Service
becounted.me Terms of Service Effective date: 2026-07-04
These terms are a contract between you and the individual operator of becounted.me, based in the Republic of Korea (pre-incorporation). Contact: hello@becounted.me. By using becounted you agree to them. They are short on purpose.
1. What becounted is
becounted is an open, append-only record of humanity's answers to moral questions. It is free. Anyone can read the public record. To answer, you sign in with your email via a magic link.
2. The covenant of the record
This is the most important term, so it comes first. Answers and predictions, once submitted, can never be edited or deleted, by you or by us. If you change your mind, submit a new answer; the old one remains in the record with its timestamp. By submitting an answer, you accept its permanence. This rule follows the becounted Charter (Article 2) and we will not make exceptions, because an exception for one person breaks the record for everyone.
3. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 16 years old. You are responsible for the email account you sign in with. One person, one account: creating multiple accounts to be counted more than once violates the core rule of the record (one verified human, one vote) and may lead to suspension.
4. Your content and our license
You keep whatever rights you have in your answers, predictions, and comments. By submitting them you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to store, display, aggregate, and publish them as part of the record, including in the public daily dump under its published open license. Perpetual and irrevocable is unusual wording and we use it deliberately: it is the legal form of the append-only covenant in section 2. Comments are licensed the same way but may be removed as described in section 5.
5. Comments and moderation
Answers are never moderated. Comments may be hidden or removed under our published moderation policy (Charter, Article 5), for example for harassment, threats, doxxing, spam, or illegal content. Any user can report a comment. We are a small operation; we review reports as promptly as we reasonably can, and we do not promise pre-screening.
6. Acceptable use
Do not: impersonate another person; automate answers or run bots; attempt to manipulate tallies; probe or attack the service; post comments that are unlawful, that target a person, or that contain personal data of others.
7. Account deletion and suspension
You may delete your account at any time as described in the Privacy Policy: your identity is erased and your answers remain in anonymized form. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms; suspension stops future submissions but, per section 2, does not remove past answers.
8. Honest limits of our promises
becounted is provided as is, without warranties. It is run by one person on third-party infrastructure. We work to keep the record intact and available, and the Charter binds us to public verifiability, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service or that the service will exist forever. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to 100,000 KRW or the amount you paid us (currently zero), whichever is greater. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for willful misconduct or gross negligence.
9. Changes and termination of the service
We may update these terms; we will post changes with their date, and material changes will be announced before they take effect. If the service ever shuts down, we will make the public record available as a final open dump, as the Charter requires the record to outlive its operator's tools.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes go to the Seoul Central District Court, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your home jurisdiction.
