Privacy Policy
becounted.me Privacy Policy Effective date: 2026-07-04
becounted is operated by an individual based in the Republic of Korea (pre-incorporation). Contact: hello@becounted.me. This policy tells you exactly what we collect, why, and what we can and cannot promise. We try not to hide anything, including the limits of our promises.
1. What we collect
- Email address. Used only to sign you in with a magic link and to send you sign-in emails. No passwords exist. Auth is handled by Supabase, hosted in the Seoul region.
- Country code. When you submit an answer or comment, we derive a two-letter country code (for example, KR) from your IP address at that moment. We store the country code. We do not store the IP address.
- What you submit. Your answers to questions, optional predictions (a 0 to 100 value), and optional comments (up to 200 characters).
- Infrastructure logs. Our providers (Vercel, Supabase, Cloudflare, Brevo for sign-in emails) keep standard technical logs, including IP addresses, for security and operations, under their own retention rules. We do not copy these logs into our database.
That is the whole list. We use no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics scripts, no ads. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it except with the providers above, who process it on our behalf.
2. Your browser
Before you sign in, your pending answers are held only in your own browser (localStorage key bc_pending_answers). They reach our servers only when you sign in and submit them. Supabase's client library stores your session token in your browser so you stay signed in.
3. What is public
becounted is an open record. The following are public by design:
- Aggregate tallies for each question.
- An anonymous activity stream: country flag, choice, and time. No name, no email, no account identifier.
- Comments, shown with a country code only.
- A planned daily public dump of the record. It contains answers with a pseudonymous ID, never your email or name.
A caution we owe you: your email and identity are never published, but a pseudonymous record of answers with country and time is, and once published in the dump it may be copied by others. Do not treat your answers as private.
4. The record cannot be edited
By design, answers and predictions can never be edited or deleted, only superseded: if you change your mind, you submit a new answer and the old one remains with its timestamp. This is the core covenant of the service (Charter, Article 2). If you are not comfortable with a permanent record, do not answer.
5. Deleting your account
You can request deletion at hello@becounted.me. We will delete your email address and identity record, delete your comments, and permanently disconnect your pseudonymous ID from anything that identifies you. Your answer rows remain in the record in anonymized form: after deletion, neither we nor anyone else can link them back to you. This is how we honor both your right to erasure and the record's permanence: the personal data is erased; what remains is no longer personal data.
6. Legal bases and your rights
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we process your email to provide the service (contract), the country code and security logs for our legitimate interest in an honest, abuse-resistant record, and your submissions because you choose to make them. You have the right to access your data, correct your email, receive a copy, object, delete your account as described above, and complain to your data protection authority. 7. International transfers
Data is primarily stored in Seoul (Supabase). Vercel, Cloudflare, and Brevo may process technical data in other countries under their standard safeguards. By using the service you acknowledge these transfers.
8. Age
You must be at least 16 to use becounted.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version with its date. For meaningful changes we will say plainly what changed.
